Kale Crispies

Have you ever tasted kale? Have you ever tasted a Kale Chip??

Let me tell you kale is a staple in my household…..it is super yummy and yes, my kids LOVE it!!!

They will eat plain kale but their absolute favorite is kale salad.

I love kale salad but my absolute favorite are Kale Chips!

Crispy, salty, melt in your mouth health food!!

Kale chips are super easy to make too, I am going to show you how to make a cheezy salt and vinegar tasting kale chip but really there are so many different varieties that can be made!  I am working on a BBQ recipe along with a few others and hopefully I will post about those soon!!

Kale Crispies

1 bunch organic kale, de stemmed and washed, then cut into shredds

2 tbsp. olive oil

1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar

1-2 teaspoons sea salt

2 tbsp. nutritional yeast

Place kale pieces in a bowl.  Add olive oil and salt and massage into leaves.  Add in vinegar and nutritional yeast and toss until well coated.  Place on a cookie sheet and place in oven set at the lowest temperature. My oven goes to 170 degrees and I bake them until crispy.  The kale needs to crisp up slowly so it does not burn, so watch them carefully!

We did the same thing with the rainbow fruit leather.

Here they are before placing in the oven:

Here they are after they came out of the oven:

You must make these!  I bet you will become a kale addict just like me. 🙂

What flavor ideas do you think would be yummy on kale chips??

  1. Hey I made these last night. They’re really good. but I think my consistency is off…. I baked them for what seemed like FOREVER at 170F and they were either crumbly and reminiscent of autumn leaves or they stayed kind of soggy….is this the expected consistency? Or should they be more chip-like like i expected? Otherwise they are soooo good. I am going to make more!

    • They should come out nice and crispy….I guess like crunchy autumn leaves…lol….they will not get like potato chips…they kind of melt in your mouth….the soggy ones probably were too close together or didn’t get moved around enough during baking…these chips are tempermental…after making them a few times you will get the hang of it and they will turn out to your liking!!! 🙂
