Kelapo Review and Homemade Apple Pie!!

I love doing reviews of products and I am super excited to share this one with you!!

Kelapo Coconut Oil

I love using coconut oil…I use it as a moisturizer, a make up remover, and of course

TO EAT!!!!

I use coconut oil in place of regular oil in my baking recipes, I use it to replace olive oil when I am cooking on the stove, and I love to drizzle it over fresh popped popcorn!!

I was really excited when this package came…

and I couldn’t wait to try this amazing looking coconut oil!!

I decided since it is fall and apple season that baking an apple pie with my kids would be a great idea!

APPLE PIE RECIPE

For the crust:

2 cups organic whole wheat pastry flour

3/4 cup coconut oil (I used the Kelapo Brand)

1/4 tsp. sea salt

Mix ingredients together to form a dough.  Separate dough into two equal balls and roll each one out to a circular shape.

Place one crust into a coconut oil greased pie pan.

For the pie filling:

3-4 large apples or 6-8 small apples (we used a mixture of 2 kinds)

1/2 cup organic cane sugar

1 tbsp. cinnamon

2 tbsp. coconut oil

Peel and slice the apples.  My kids were eating them as fast as I was cutting them….maybe have some extra apples if you have helpers. 🙂

Place apples into pie crust.

Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over top and divide the 2 tbsp. of coconut oil into small chunks and place on top of the apples.  Place the other rolled out crust on top and crimp sides together.  Make a few slits through top crust.  Bake at 400* for 45-50 min.

Enjoy!!!

This was a really quick and easy apple pie to make.  The coconut oil worked great in making the crust and the pie was super yummy!!!

I hope you make this pie and I hope you check out Kelapo Coconut Oil too!!

  1. ha ha! I would definitely have to cut up extra apples around here! You have darling helpers. 🙂 And your apple pie sounds so good and so easy! Maybe *I* could actually make a pie. Whoa.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Kelapo. Thanks for your review.

  2. YOur kids are so stinkin cute and look like great helpers! That’s a great recipe for an apple pie, I love that you used coconut oil. I’ve just taken a bit of a liking to pie occassionally as an adult and I don’t think that I’ve ever really made one!
