How to Get Kids to Eat Spinach!

My kids eat spinach…..

okay, okay……not like this!!!

They did a good job of standing there pretending to eat their raw spinach for the 15 minutes I tried to get a “good shot”!!

🙂

When the shoot was over they didn’t gobble down those handfuls of spinach, they weren’t craving those leafy greens in their little hands…..no…..a mom could only wish…..

BUT….I do know how to get your kids to want to eat that spinach and LIKE it!!!

As a mom we try to give our kids healthy foods and then we become discouraged when they don’t like it…then we say things like….

my kids don’t like_________ (fill in the blank with any fruit/veggie).

But, as a mom I know that I need to find the way they DO like that fruit or veggie so that I can get them to eat it….they may not like plain raw spinach but guess what…..

neither do I!!

SHHHHH….

don’t tell my kids….

so how do I get my kids to eat their spinach??

It’s called an

ALIEN SMOOTHIE

don’t be scared….

don’t knock it because it’s green….

I will prove to you that this is a KID approved smoothie!!

First, start with some mango….

use as much as you want..I like to use 2 small yellow ones…or frozen chunks that I buy at the store…

next, use 1-2 bananas….

throw this in the blender with some cold water and ice…

next add in a SMALL amount of spinach…maybe 1/2 cup to start…you can also add in one of the following: honey, stevia, agave, or pure maple syrup if you want to make this smoothie really sweet!

After you have won your kids over with this great tasting smoothie you can slowly begin to add in more spinach or other greens…maybe increase by 1/2 cup each week….

sometimes I like to add in the juice of a fresh squeezed lemon to this recipe as well…:)

It’s so easy….it’s super yummy…

and

KID APPROVED!!!

Here’s my proof!!

GOT SMOOTHIES???

I even gave some to my niece and nephew

yep….they loved them too….

so go ahead and have a green smoothie…

and get your kids to eat spinach too!!!

  1. Love it!!!! Your kids are too cute posing like that! I’ll be sure to show my boys your post. I have one out of my three who won’t drink the green stuff, no matter how good it tastes…we’re working on it!

  2. I love spinach, especially baby spinach! 🙂
During one of my workshops I showed different types of smoothies and the green one was of course with baby spinach. The first one to come and ask for one was a little girl, I was impressed…

It’s great that you tricked your kids in eating it :))) They look super cute on the photos!

    • THat’s awesome!! LOL Kids are usually less intimidated than adults when it comes to “green stuff”

well, I didn’t trick my kids…they knew what they were drinking!!! hahaha

  3. We make this smoothie all the time! Baby spinach is great in a smoothie because it has a mild taste. My kids also eat spinach in a salad if they like the dressing – a good dressing can help get them to eat anything! 🙂

  4. Spinach smoothies? I’m actually not a big fan of mixing fruits and vegetables, but I guess I’ll try this in the name of science.

Also… when I was younger, I got sold on spinaches over that cartoon character Popeye. Does that no longer work on kids?

  5. I grew up on Popeye and have always loved spinach. I also think the idea of an Alien Smoothie is super, but rawkinmom is right about adults being willing to drink something green.

  6. You can add spinach to their favourite food

    Sppinach omeleett

If they don’t like to see green pieces inside egg

Just blend it with egg. THen kepp whipping

Egg with spoon for about minute then to get air inside

    Cook it

Or you can make spinach bread
Normal ingredient add to it spinach ve blend it

Or spinach pizza or with yogurt as dip
