Our Garden

It’s that time of year again!!!

Fresh fruits and vegetables, farmers markets, gardens……it is so easy to be healthy in the summer time!!!

Every year that we have had our garden we have extended it further and further trying to make room for more plants to grow.  We now have almost the entire length of our backyard, plus a strip along our garage and an area 1/2 the width of our garage!!

I love our garden and every year I learn new techniques on gardening….we are not expert gardeners by any means!!  We actually have no idea what we are doing!  LOL

We just plant and hope everything grows successful!!!

Here is 1 of our gardens being “prepped”

Our kids love to help plant our garden and this year they were both old enough to actually be very helpful!!  My daughter dug the holes and my son put the baby plants in and covered the holes back up!!  However, they did lose interest after a while!!  That’s okay- we worked hard and had everything planted in one day.

We planted Marigolds around the perimeter to help ward off any critters, we’ll see if this helps at all!!

This year our garden is hosting kale, collards, Bibb lettuce, green leaf lettuce, red peppers, yellow peppers, green peppers, banana peppers, jalepeno peppers, 3 -4 varieties of tomatoes, snap peas, strawberries, cucumbers, zucchini, cilantro, parsley, chocolate mint, stevia, and peppermint.  I hope to also get a raspberry and blueberry bush….maybe a grape vine for the fence, and possibly dig up my moms fig tree and replant it in my yard!!!

So, you can see we are not professionals at all!!  We just do what we can, learn as we go, and hopefully our harvest will be enough to share with our family and friends!!

So, buy some baby plants, place them in the ground, and give them some water every day and I bet you will have yourself some delicious home grown food!!!!

ENJOY!!

  1. You’ve got a lot of good stuff growing! And the chocolate mint sounds amazing. That will be great added to all sorts of dishes, I’ll bet 🙂

I garden the same way you do — plant and hope for the best!

Thanks for the sweet comment you left me 🙂
