Teeccino over coffee???

So the last couple of years I have been making some serious changes in my diet and lifestyle.   I have been working on consuming a minimally processed diet as much as possible, meaning I try to eat fresh and whole foods all or most of the time.  One of the things in my diet that was holding me back and noticeably making me not as healthy as I could be was- coffee!! Oh, how I loved coffee!!!   Well, actually I loved the experience of coffee.  Let me explain.

Growing up I watched my parents drink their coffee every morning before they could start their day.  I always vowed that I wouldn’t touch coffee once I was an adult and I stuck to that vow until I was in my 30’s!  One day though I allowed myself to indulge in some sort of frappuccino….and it went downhill from there.  I started indulging in these daily and then I found that I could tolerate other forms of coffee as well as long as they were sweetened a lot!  Eventually, I started drinking it everyday several times a day….it seemed I was making up for lost times!!  I loved having a hot coffee in a big mug on a cold day, or an iced coffee sipped through a straw on a hot day…..I looked forward to this EVERY AFTERNOON..as I always drank my coffee in the afternoon…never before lunch time…I just couldn’t break my childhood vow! 🙂

Last year, I decided to give up coffee and tried several times without being successful…..then I came across this product called Teeccino-and the caption read “America’s Favorite Coffee Replacement-all the satisfaction…no caffeine reaction!”

I checked out the benefits that they listed:

  • naturally caffeine free
  • high in potassium and soluble fiber
  • natural energy boost from nutrients
  • non acidic
  • rich in inulin
  • gluten free

Then I had a look at the ingredients-each flavor has a little different ingredient list but basically it is made with:

  • Organic chicory root
  • organic carob
  • organic barley
  • organic dates
  • almonds
  • organic figs

It comes in a package that looks just like a bag of coffee and when you open it it looks and smells like coffee!!! WOW!!

It is brewed just like coffee too!!!  I use a French Press to brew a cup at a time and then I add some almond or coconut milk with some stevia.  I have drank it hot and iced and both ways are delicious!!!

I have successfully been free of coffee for about 3 months now, however,  I do still indulge in green tea and of course, Teeccino!

SO……to celebrate my 3 months of coffee free I am going to do a TEECCINO GIVEAWAY!!!

I have 4 sample bags of Teeccino to give away….the flavors include Original, Caffe’, Mocha, and Java….I also love Hazelnut and Vanilla too!!!  Each sample brews 6 cups, so it is a pretty nice size package!

I’ll be giving away 2 samples to 2 lucky winners so…….

Just post your comment about why you’d liked to try TEECCINO for one entry, and post about/link to this post on your site (blog, Facebook, Twitter) for an additional entry. The giveaway ends on Friday, April  23, 2010 and I’ll draw the winner on Saturday, April 24, 2010.

Good luck!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!  The winners for this giveaway are Tracey and Melanie!!!

Hope you love Teeccino as much as I do!!!

  1. I’d love to try it. I’ve been looking for a substitute for coffee but haven’t been able to find one that actually tastes like coffee. Can’t wait!

    • Yes, this is very coffee like for sure! Teeccino suggests when you are brewing to actually add the coffee grounds in with the Teeccino grounds and then lesson the amount of coffee over time!! GENIUS CONCEPT!! Then you have no withdraw headache!!!

  2. Hi Samantha!

I would like to try TEECINO because I recently read that it is good to have a hot beverage to drink after every meal! I am not really a coffee drinker, but I love the herbal teas from Teavana!

  3. I love their herbal coffees and its helping me kick my coffee addiction I acquired last year while training for my first marathon. But the only place I have been able to find them is Whole Foods and Frontier. Any suggestions?

    • Wow! I have great respect for you, I just took up jogging and would love to train for a marathon!!! I buy mine at Better Health Market and Zerbo’s..you can also purchase online from their website!

  4. I’d love to give it a try. I’m working on getting off of Diet Coke in the mornings. I’m doing ok with it, but I’d love to have a good substitute! 🙂

  5. I did not know there was a product like this except for an instant barley drink that is a sub for coffee. It is caffeene free. It is called PERO instant natural beverage. Ing are malted barley, barley, chicory. I don’t think it comes flavored any different and it over 8 dollars for 7oz’s. I like something like this when it is after dinner and I dont want caffeine or if I fast off coffee for awhile I use this to break the fast. Flavors sound fun

  6. I think this may actually help quench my craving for frapachinos! I have pretty much given up coffee for the most part in the mornings, but still love a nice cold refreshing frap once or twice a week.

  7. I would like to try Teecino because I am sleep deprived and need a morning pick me up 🙂 I’m drinking waaaay too much caffeine lately:(

  8. I know I’m too late on this one. I’m impressed, especially since I never heard back from teeccino when I contacted them. Good score.

BTW, I just wanted to tell you that your website looks great!

    • I didn’t score on this one…I bought the samples at a health food store. I just thought that if I start doing some small giveaways that maybe more people would come view the site….:) THanks so much on the website…I really have no idea what I am doing when I make the site, it’s frustrating but at least its something!!! LOL

  9. Thanks for this post. I have seen this product in our health food store but haven’t tried it. Have tried ecco which is nice but made by Nescafe so suspect. And have now A vogels coffee substitute but I find it very bland. With Ecco it’s really nice to make an iced “coffee” with almond milk and a sprinkle of nutmeg on top really makes it feel luxurious.
