Kiwi Fruit


Kiwi’s are a well known fruit that are rich in nutrients, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and fiber.  The taste is a cross between a banana, strawberry, and melons.  It is very high in Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and Vitamin E.  It also contains a good amount of potassium and lots of fiber!!  One Kiwi fruit has 45 calories, 0.3 grams of fat, 1 gram of protein, and almost 3 grams of fiber.  The little black seeds are edible, they contain Alpha Linoleic Acid which is an Omega 3 fat (super good for you).  The skin is also edible and adds to the fiber, but my suggestion if you want to eat it would be to throw it into a smoothie.  ***Kiwi’s can cause an allergic reaction in some people because of a protein called Actinidin.


Kiwi Sorbet

2-3 kiwis

1-3 tbsp. agave nectar

juice of 2 limes


Place all into a blender and then freeze for an hour!!

Kiwi Pops

same recipe as above but pour into cups after blending and place in freezer until it starts to thicken….place a kiwi slice on top and add a popsicle stick finish -freezing until hardened

Kiwi fruit Kabobs

2-3 kiwi’s

1-2 bananas

6-12 strawberries

slice fruit and place on skewers

Kiwi Sauce

3-4 kiwi’s

Blend kiwi’s in blender with a few teaspoons of water.  Drizzle this over sliced fruit such as papaya or bananas.

  1. I’m going to the store tomorrow so I’ll pick up some Kiwi for the sorbet. It sounds like it may be good with some dried coconut in it!! Yum!!
