As a kid I loved peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Fluffy, white Wonder bread….
Smooth and creamy Jif peanut butter…
and some sugary, sweet Smuckers Jam….
I do believe there is even a picture of me as a child sitting on my swingset in a little red bathing suit holding a peanut butter and jelly sandwich smiling…..
oh, how times have changed……
As an adult I know the nutritional void that comes with that fluffy white bread…..the sugar content in that sweet jam… peanut butter left my life years ago when I found out my children were allergic to it …..little red bathing suits left my life years ago too….I do believe that had something to do with my children as well…..:)
What’s a girl to do???
Compromise.
A Better Than PB and J Sandwich
- sprouted whole grain tortilla (I like the Ezekial Brand)
- almond butter
- fresh sliced strawberries
- fresh sliced bananas
- dried blueberries
- cacao nibs
Spread the almond butter evenly over the entire tortilla, top with strawberries, bananas and dried blueberries. Sprinkle with cacao nibs or if you really want a treat some mini chocolate chips! Roll up into a taco or burrito shape and ENJOY!!
this compromise is good although the compromise on the bathing suit didn’t turn out so well…..just saying….:)
